Healthwatch Nottingham & Nottinghamshire is the local independent patient and public champion.
We hold local health and care leaders to account for providing excellent care by making sure they communicate and engage with local people, clearly and meaningfully and that they are transparent in their decision making.
We gather and represent the views of those who use health and social care services, particularly those whose voice is not often listened to. We use this information to make recommendations to those who have the power to make change happen.
To hold local health and care commissioners and providers to account for listening to the public, as well as providing excellent care, signposting and total transparency.
To collect & provide insight into patients & communities, making recommendations to improve services for the public, patients and service users. Holding commissioners and providers to account for delivering these recommendations.
Across local, regional and national networks of Healthwatch and the CQC to ensure big issues/opportunities are acted upon & best practice is shared, whilst ensuring that our independence is maintained.
We have three key roles
Scrutiny: To hold local health and care commissioners and providers to account for listening to the public, as well as providing excellent care, signposting and total transparency.
Make a difference: To collect & provide insight into patients & communities, making recommendations to improve services for the public, patients and service users. Holding commissioners and providers to account for delivering these recommendations.
Work in partnership: Across local, regional and national networks of Healthwatch and the CQC to ensure big issues/opportunities are acted upon & best practice is shared, whilst ensuring that our independence is maintained.
Across Nottinghamshire, there are many groups representing its diverse communities and interests. The Healthwatch Champions Network enables Healthwatch Nottinghamshire to collect information in a meaningful way and use this to support our influence to help to improve local Health and Social Care services.
How champion help us:
Champions are the ‘eyes and ears’ of Healthwatch in the community. As a member of a local group (or groups), they help us by:
- Distributing information supplied by Healthwatch Nottinghamshire and explain the organisation’s role at your group
- Sharing information about Healthwatch Nottinghamshire’s activities
- Collecting issues that your group raises and feeding back to Healthwatch Nottinghamshire
- Networking with partner organisations, staff and other volunteers
- Delivering presentations on Healthwatch Nottinghamshire’s behalf at local meetings (when necessary)
