Notes for contributors Hints for authors Newsletter advertisers
*Our Community Newsletter is now an established feature of local life - and much wider than that! Published quarterly, it is currently a 24-page, A4, glossy full-colour ‘journal’ containing a mix of public information, articles and community group notices. Distributed free to every household in Clarborough and Welham. Clarborough Primary School also provides copies for families who live outside our immediate community. Further, we place batches of Newsletters in Retford (Denman) Library, Bassetlaw Action Centre, Bassetlaw Museum, Retford Arts Hub, and also The Aurora Wellbeing Centre and BCVS (these latter two in Worksop) as well as several other online outlets. Copies are also placed (for ‘passing trade’) at Clarborough’s King Stores SPAR outlet and Kings Arms. Our print run is currently 600. Many pages are also read online since this website contains current and back issues of our Newsletter (see below). We are also grateful to BCVS (Bassetlaw Community & Voluntary Service) who incorporate copies of our Newsletter in their monthly Newsletter which goes to well over a thousand destinations across the area and even into North Derbyshire and South Yorkshire! Finally, we are also grateful to Michael Carnall who manages our Village Hall’s Outreach Post Office as well as many other such ‘outreaches’ across our area for distributing copies to customers in other villages.
Finance for this initiative was, for many years, divided between our community IT Group and revenue from advertising. Our Parish Council has provided a significant grant towards the printing costs in recent years although the Newsletter remains editorially independent. From Autumn 2015 a local entrepreneur, who wishes to remain anonymous, has provided printing services ‘at cost’ until our Winter 2026 issue.
